Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, July 25, 2020
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Holy crap. Lincoln Woods lot 100% full at 5:15 AM. Cars parked well down road. When we returned around 3:00 it was crazy. Cars parked for over a mile on both sides. Some kind of situation that required law enforcement (who knows, hope all is well) people just POURING in.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The first river crossing caused me to remove shoes (I'm very short. I saw a tall man leap across rocks.) All other crossings rock hop-able, and our Vizsla (who is little) had no problems.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Things are looking good. We just didn't care for the *lost in the forest* feel of the Black Pond Bushwack, so we took the standard route.Even the *unmaintained* Owl's Head trail is looking pretty maintained.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Our dog is one tired lady now. Also, we are hoping for the best for the dog who became ill on Lincoln Woods trail and was carried out swiftly by his loving, and prepared, Dad.
Bugs
Bugs: A few mosquitos. One deer fly.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: I lost a blue Solomon soft water bottle :-(

Comments
Comments: Lincoln Woods Trail, Black Pond Trail (to check out, and reject buskwack) Franconia Brook Trail, Lincoln Brook Trail, Owl's Head Trail, Brutus Bushwack

If you stick to the standard route the whole day can be done on autopilot (including Brutus- it's basically a trail) Water levels were good today. We saw a few other hikers en route but had the summit to ourselves. at 3-ish the Lincoln Woods trail was jam packed full, and you better believe we high tailed it out of there.

All in all. A great hike. We got 21 miles out of it due to detour to take a look at Black Pond bushwack. Made it back to the car in about 9 hours 45 min. We think that this trail would be pretty awesome to pack light and run on, if the weather was solid.

Also, we really enjoyed the slide and made decent time on it. Nice dry day.
