Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: From Rt. 16: turn on to Promenade Street and go to the end; from Rt. 2 turn on to Church Street then take a right on to Promenade Street. In both cases keep the cemetery on your right. After the cemetery the road turns to gravel, follow for .2 mile and just as you make it to the clearing the trailhead is on your left. There’s parking for 3-4 cars. There was one car across from the trailhead on the other side of the road when we arrived, and they were leaving when we returned. We were there on a weekend, I don’t know if the gravel yard is active during the week and if that affects parking. Earlier the GPS sent us down Union Street from Rt 2, but that dead-ends at the railroad tracks.

Comments
Comments: Overall a beautiful hike; slow and steady. Near the top, from the many side paths out to the various overlooks, there are fantastic views to Moriah, The Carters, and The Wildcats. Be sure to take Pine Mountain Trail all the way past the tower foundations to the ledges for the best views of all!

Please respect the No Trespassing signs of the Horton Center.

Even though Pine is now one of the 52WAV this trail does not appear to get much use. For a Sunday we saw only 6 other hikers!

On our descent we came across two bicyclists walking their wheels up PMT about 1/2 mile after where it turns off the woods road. They came zipping back down the trail about 20 minutes later! Yikes!
