 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
We dropped a car at the public end of Quinttown Rd. in Orford before the first gate and began our hike on Baker Rd. at the CRT trailhead. No issues with driving either road or with parking. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
|
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Hardly any water anywhere. :( |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
CRT and KT are fairly eroded in their upper halves. A few blowdowns on KT. We removed some flagging placed along the North Peak spur. The log bridge over the brook near the Hexacuba Shelter spur is no longer; looks like it was wiped out by flooding at some point. An alternate herd path bypass now exists. "Penta-Privy" sign is missing from the Hexacuba privy. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Probably not right now, as there is very little water. |
|
 | Bugs: |
None! |
|
 | Lost and Found: |
Nothing. |

 | Comments: |
A traverse of Cube, ascending CRT, popping over to North Peak, then descending Kodak. I hadn't been on Kodak in a long time and forgot what a nice route this is. Lots of ledges and views along the way, with some rugged and steep terrain. Good times.
Water was pretty scarce everywhere. We visited Hexacuba Shelter on the way down and the brook near the spur trail was trickling, but just barely. Thru-hikers I've been talking to have been reporting long stretches without water.
Finally, temps were cool enough to not roast all day. The weather was very pleasant for hiking, with a nice breeze on both peaks. A fantastic day out. |
