Started at about 8am up the Short Line Trail intending to summit Adams first, but doubled back when we saw a black bear and cub about ~1 mile in. They were clearly scared and ran off quickly. Went up Watson Trail to try to summit Madison, but we encountered another set of black bears on the trail about a half mile from the summit (in alpine zone). Weather was very cloudy and visibility was low so we decided to go back down Watson and call it a day. Take caution solo hiking in this area right now. |
