Comments
Comments: Great day to give Desolation Trail a shot in a lollipop loop going counterclockwise from Sawyer River Road. Carrigain Notch Trail, though described as hard to follow in spots in the White Mountain Guide, did not give us any trouble. There were a lot of signs of moose activity (lots of scat) between the notch and Nancy Pond Trail. Desolation Trail was a thrill, plenty to keep you busy but not so long that it was agonizing. Lots of places for your hands and feet there. I really enjoyed that trail! Signal Ridge was as I remembered it, nice and dry and no trouble for a quick return to the lot.
