Comments
Comments: Flags on the 48 hike! Perfect hiking day, all trails packed that I passed. 1st FOT 48 but not my last. Trail is steep for the 1st 3rd then moderates until Starr King. FYI the spring is bone dry, no surprise. Great views here but also lots of people. Clearing is smaller than I remember. Fairly quick easy hike to Waumbek, great views just past summit. Washington was in the clear all day! Could even see Madison Hut clearly. Flag went up at 11:50, our group of 5 + 5 others. Pretty special moment for me. Lots of folks getting their pics taken. Everyone very nice & respectful. Several knew nothing about this tribute & were amazed by it. Thanks to Dan who headed this & carried everything up & down! Colleen, Lynn & my friend Laurie. We arrive strangers & left as friends. The time flew by with stories & laughter. A great memory! 1 of my greatest hiking trips! RIP to the man who passed on Jefferson yesterday
