Comments
Comments: On the way up we set up a tent on one of the 4 platforms at The Perch as the plan was to summit Mount Jefferson which was Piper’s 47 out the 48 and to sleep at there and the next day summit Mount Adams to complete the 48!! (see tomorrow’s report)
When we got back to The Perch the other platforms were being used as was the shelter all by friendly people.
RMC has opened The Perch but Gray Knob and Crag Camp remain closed due to Covid until further notice. Caretaker stays at Gray Knob and hikes down to The Perch daily and asks for donations to be put in box inside the shelter or one can mail in a donation to the RMC. Caretaker reports someone will remain at Gray Knob thru the fall and winter.

We saw only 2 people coming down from Gray Knob until reaching the end of Randolph Path near Gulfside Trail. There was no sign indicating where Randolph Path keeps going straight around towards Mount Jefferson. The sign points Israel Ridge Path goes up towards Mount Adams.

Relatively cold on the summit with people hunkering behind some rocks having used other trails
