| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Summer parking area nearly empty to start but nearing be full at the end. I'll guess many were non hiker vehicles. |

|
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Rock steps |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails in good shape for summer - some minor mud, mostly well brushed and easy stream crossings. Winter nicely covered up the eroded stretches. One new blowdown just below Field on the north side. Sign to Avalon on broken stem leaning against a stream; works for now. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Easy day for the mighty tough little dog, although he may have questionned my sanity by Willey when he was soaked. He had fun on the hike back. |

None. |

The planned hike of the Franconias turned into this hike due to the nasty weather in the am. We waited in the car at the trailhead while gusty chilly (45F) winds blew lots of rain around a dark Crawford Notch.
When the rain lessened we started the hike but it wasn't until Willey that the rain really stopped and there was any clearing, and that was only to around 4400'. I even used gloves. We saw only one other person doing our route, and two that did Willey from Ethan Pond, until the very end when several hikers started in.
Waits of a bit under 10 minutes going up Franconia Notch and more than 10 coming back down due to construction. On the drive back the Franconia Notch peaks were clear and here in Rumney it's gorgeous out. Oh well, it was a fun rhythmic hike with no bugs, heat, humidity or computers. |
