Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Lincoln Woods trailhead was mostly empty at 5:25 am and full when I returned at 2:00 pm.

Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water crossings were all easy rock hops due to the drought.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in great shape except Owls Head Path, but that's kind of the point of that trail. The slide continues to be in rough shape and there were numerous blowdowns near the summit.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Only saw a couple on Lincoln Woods Trail. Would not recommend attempting Owls Head with a dog.
Bugs
Bugs: None! The beauty of late September hiking!

Comments
Comments: I was on the trail early but I saw another group starting a CW Pemi Loop and got passed by someone running a CCW Pemit Loop. Not much to note prior to Lincoln Brook Trail other than the water levels are worryingly low. Hopefully we get some rain soon (just not on the weekends!). There was considerable mud and standing water on Lincoln Brook Trail from the springs coming off the back side of Franconia Ridge, but it was mostly avoidable and not too troublesome. The slide up Owls Head was pretty brutal. The scree made the footing pretty shaky and it was wildly steep. There's plenty to grab onto though which was helpful. The views on the slide towards Lincoln and Lafayette were great with the leaves starting to change. There were numerous blowdowns after the slide which, again, were easy enough to go around or over. Ended up descending the slide because I missed Brutus, and it wasn't too bad. There was plenty to hold onto and I just took it slow. Saw about 15 people on Owls Head which was more than I was expecting. It was the last big hike of the summer for me and it was a great day out there!
