Comments
Comments: Hiked from Osgood Tentsite to Mt Madison via Madison Gulf Trail, which is a very tough ascent. It's steep with some slippery parts and a few tricky scrambles. The hut was closed for the season (outside water is turned off). Very windy at the summit. Mix of sun and clouds, with good views of the colorful foliage, especially to the north. Hiked back to the tentsite via Osgood Trail (steep and rocky), packed up the tents, and back to Rte 16 via Great Gulf Trail. Didn't see anyone else until we reached the hut. There were about ten peopleat the summit while we were there, and then about five people coming up the Osgood Trail while we were descending.
