Trails: Self-Guided Woods Walk, Chandler Trail, Cross Minks Trail, White Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Thursday, October 1, 2020
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty of parking at the end of Mink Hill Lane, on a cul-de-sac, where the two legs of the Woods Walk (loop) begin about 40 feet away from each other. The eastern leg is marked with recent signage; the western leg begins beyond a large prone tree trunk. Mink Hill Lane is in decent shape, few ruts than we remember from a couple of years ago.

Water Crossing Notes: Nothing of note.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails are in fine shape, in particular the cleaned portion through the recently (two years ago?) logged section, near the base of the old ski slope. One 20- or 30-foot section of the eastern-most leg of the Woods Walk, where it crosses the logged area, is brushy with cherry saplings obscuring the footbed -- this might take all of 10 minutes with a pair of loppers. Western leg of the Woods Walk is an unmarked mowed path across the base of the old ski slope, before nearing the woods, where a short re-route section marked by yellow flagging tape soon re-joins the original yellow-blazed trail. Very nice work.

Comments
Comments: The last time we were here was before the logging operation at the base of the old ski area. In addition to that change, quite a bit of new signage has gone up at all trail intersections, and also at the western end of the Cross Minks Trail, at the end of Howe Lane (we drove there for a quick look).

The trails are in really nice shape. Quiet woods with a nice footbed.

Both Mink Hill Lane and Howe Lane are in better shape than we recall, too -- better graded.

It would appear that quite a bit of time and effort have gone into making these trails better and better, and it really shows. Thank you to whomever maintains these.
