Comments
Comments: First day of a two-day trip. Snow started around 2500 feet on Osseo. Trails were easy to negotiate until after Lafayette. Most hikers wore spikes except on the ridge, where there were lots of bare booters. The snow got deeper on Lafayette and there were some 2+ foot drifts coming off North Lafayette. Garfield Ridge was a mess - mixture of slush, wet rocks, and a few deeper drifts. Between the melting snow on the trees and the melting snow on the ground, conditions were very wet. Spent the night at Garfield Ridge Campsite, which had at least 12" of snow on the tent platforms.
