Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, June 5, 2011
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Fee area. Only a couple of other cars. They were all gone at our return.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All were easy.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Only one blowdown just below Beaver Brook Shelter. The trail is in great shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Marlie had no complaints. The trail may be steep for some dogs. There was some water for the first 1.5 miles then it was scarce. Having a leash handy is a good idea as we saw about 20 people and three other dogs today.
Bugs
Bugs: Not too bad to start, noticeable on Moosilauke, horrible on Mt Blue, and swarming back at the parking lot.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: A foot warmer, a bottle and can (thank you to whoever picked them up) and a baby sock which I placed on a cairn.

Comments
Comments: We started just before noon and were back around 4:30. The trail was in good shape. Lots of wooden steps and up, up, up to begin. Then a nice ridge walk.

I spotted a herd path and followed it to the summit of Mt Blue on my return. Very buggy there. Nice walk with a man named Clint (sorry if that's not right) who was section hiking the AT for his second time.
