|Hiking Trail Conditions Report|
||Mt. Rowe, Gunstock Mountain, NH|
||Ridge Trail, Ridge Trail Road Bypass, Alpine Ridge Spur, Brook Trail|
|Date of Hike:
||Tuesday, October 27, 2020|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||At Gunstock Resort. More parking than you could shake a skunk at. |
||Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
|Water Crossing Notes:
||No issues. |
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
||No major issues. Waterbars are due for cleaning soon. Noted fresh new blazes on Brook Trail. The Road Bypass now has green/white blazes and has been extended since my last visit to skirt behind the tower on Rowe. |
|Lost and Found:
||One Coleman canteen found on Brook Trail, which I carried out. ||
||A quick hike up to Rowe to check a few things then across the ridge to Gunstock because it was such a nice afternoon. Trails were mostly dry, although Brook Trail did have some wet ledge and mud in places.|
The new view spur off the Road Bypass route is fantastic! Great view out to the Ossipees from here. This alternate footpath route is a much nicer approach to Rowe from this side than schlepping up the access road.
Sunny skies and cool air today really made it feel like autumn. Very quiet also, only two people seen all afternoon.
