Comments
Comments: The snowstorm that hit Southern NH on 10/30 did not reach the Whites. The dusting to 3/4 inch of snow on the trails was from several days earlier. Traction not necessary. Many areas below 2200' or exposed to the Sun had no snow. Small patches of avoidable ice. Due to daily thawing and nightly refreezing, the amount of ice is likely to increase, though.

Mt. Crescent is on the (possibly defunct) YMCA NH100, a list which is supposed to be doable without bushwhacks. However, the true summit of Crescent is actually off trail. The AMC map is too large scale to show the summit being off trail, but you can see it on the RMC map and it becomes obvious once you near the junction of the Mt. Crescent and Crescent ridge trails. Followed a deer path a short distance to the apparent high point of Crescent.

Only saw one couple and a nice dog all day until Lookout ledge where there was a friendly group of 8.
