Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: This was an out and back hike on Old Bridal and Franconia Ridge. The trails were in good shape with exception of 3 significant duck unders/ step overs on Old Bridal Path. Erosion on Old Bridal Path but that did not create any footing issues. Fortunately trail was dry with a few very minor exceptions. Trail leading from hut up to Lafayette had usual wet spots near pond. Franconia Ridge Trail in excellent shape. No snow, no ice.

Lost and Found
Lost and Found: saw a fairly new green hiking shoe hanging from branch on Old Bridal Path

Comments
Comments: this was a really enjoyable hike. I went up and back before any bad weather. Going up to Mt. Lafayette from Galehead Hut you could see low level clouds flowing southwesterly through Franconia Notch. When you arrived at summit and headed over to Lincoln the same cloud flow was coming up the easterly side of the Ridge. At 10:00 am I could see far and wide over the broken blanket of the low clouds. The views and clouds were beautiful. When I returned to Lafayette from Lincoln the clouds had risen higher and they were enveloping the summit of Lafayette. That was disorienting to me for a few moments, but the compass and trail signs don't lie so there was no problem. The wind was stiff from the Hut upward and along the ridge. The temperatures dropped noticeably at the Hut and continued cold along the Ridge. Only saw two hikers all day. One had gone up Falling Waters Trail and said the trail (for him) was not difficult and no ice or snow.
