Great hike! But bring traction for high elevation. Encountered a few people on the trail, especially along ridge between South and Middle Carter and coming down North Carter Trail, who were struggling without traction. Significant ice including black ice. While you won't need traction for the first part of the hike, you may want to put on traction earlier than you think to avoid an accidental hike ending slip.
Great view from Mt Height! Don't skip. Try hitting it first before heading over to Carter Dome so you're going up the steepest part. Would be dicey coming down that part of the trail even with traction. |
