Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail was blazed in White and in good shape. Only a few small step-over blowdowns. The mileage on the sign is incorrect-it states that Crane mountain is 1.0 miles when it is actually about 2.1 miles. The sign is located a few hundred feet from the beginning of the trail where it starts on the left side of Church Hill Road. There is no signage at the start from Church Hill Road, but there is a clear white blaze indicating the beginning of the trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Easy dog trail. No water, so in warmer weather you would want to carry plenty of extra for your canine companion

Comments
Comments: Really fun trail with lots of up and down and fantastic views. The ground was frozen solid for the first half but softened up significantly with the sunshine on our way back to the trailhead. We planned on going all the way to Orange Mountain; however, based on the small amounts of sporadic ice we encountered on Crane Mountain and Nordic Gals' trip report from 5 days ago we enjoyed our lunch at the fine viewpoint just beyond the summit and retraced our steps. Margaret's first hike with any ice had just enough to safely practice identifying and avoiding it-I did not want to get into any significant sections where traction would be necessary. Cold, windy, beautiful day with zero humans encountered.
