Comments
Comments: After parking our vehicles in front of the gate we walked the woods road in a westerly direction. The road was a pleasant walk until we reached the powerline, then became overgrown. The woods road turned north, following the base of the ledges, a wall of rock raising about 150 ft. The woods road began to turn away from the ledges and we began to bushwhack along the base of the cliff, looking for an opening to climb. We hiked to a height of land, punching through pucker brush. We continued over the height of land, heading northeast until the we found an accessible route up the ledges where we found a path that led to the summit and jar. After a brief respite we took off for south peak, bushwhacking on and off herd paths for .6 m. until we reached the south summit. Doubled back to North Peak, looking for an exit off the cliffs, found none and followed our incoming route back to Lost Nation Road. A challenging, rewarding hike in beautiful weather with NH500 companion Fran. Views along the ledges were spectacular, looking east towards Pliny Range.
