WEAR SNOWSHOES
The Glencliff trail was nicely broken/packed by yesterday's hikers. It must not have been easy as there were several spots where the lead changed. 8" or so at start to 12+" and drifts. Thank you whoever you are. Unfortunately the Carriage road had been rototilled by a thoughtless bare booter. Curses on you. By now I would guess most of the "usual" trails have been broken. Broken but they are not firm so they are easily trashed. Firm will come in a while after a few freeze/thaw cycles. After that the sidewalks we love so much until the next storm. My snowshoes whined about the rocks above tree line so they rested in the col while I bare booted the wind blown stony summit cone.
Strong wind/bitter cold Bluebird Day on the summit with an undercast. |
