Comments
Comments: This trail is a good one. My first trip to Doublehead, trail is in great shape with a few very good looking new water bars. Snow didn't start showing up in the woods until about 1500', with hard packed frozen granular and ice creeping into the trail at about 1800'. There was only a short stretch below the view ledges (no more than 150 feet) where I put my spikes on; it was a little tricky on the way up, so I decided to play it safe on the descent. The ledges were snow free and offered nice blue views across Squam to Red Hill and the Ossipee's. It started snowing while coming back to them from the summit, changing the view completely - previously visible ranges and summits were faint.

On my way out I took the minor detour to the "view." There is a picnic table, and old granite works from the historic inhabitants. Some really great stonework sits behind the picnic table. The view was great even with the snowy skies, I imagine it could be a bit buggy here in summer.
