Decided to hike where the snow fell and stay away from the big mountains. Started out on a recently broken out trail which turned to continue toward Mt Percival. we continued straight and broke out the Mt Morgan trail making first tracks. Beautiful conditions breaking around 10 inches of powder. Because of no previous base, caution needed to be taken of the rocks that were covered. Laid out a nice track to the summit. Great views on the summit, with warming sunshine and bluebird skies. Continued breaking trail along Crawford Ridgepole, where we met to hikers (wearing snowshoes) who had completed breaking the trail to Mt. Percival.
Met two other groups, also wearing snowshoes also ascending Mt. Percival. Trails are well packed now.
Upon returning to the parking area, there was evidence of barebooting in progress. OH WELL. There isn't a lot of snow so it shouldn't damage the trail greatly. |
