 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked on Dummer Ponds Road at the 4-mile marker from Route 16. Road is in use by an active logging operation so we were sure to have our vehicles well off and out of harms way of the large logging trucks. This was easy today as there was very little snow but it would be hard to tell how much room there would be after plowing. |

 | Comments: |
Parked on Dummer Ponds Road at the 4-mile marker and were able to pull into a small parking area (room for 3 vehicles) under the powerlines. The plan (which we followed) was to head west through the saddle between Dummer Ponds Peak and the lower bump to it's north and hit Paris Road beyond, walk the road northerly to the bridge (Phillips Brook was high and flowing with a vengeance). Continuing on Westerly using a logging road we were able to gain elevation easily and hit the Northwestern ridge of Long Mountain-East Peak. We followed this ridge southerly to the recognized HOL and signed in. We returned in our tracks back to the saddle finding an even easier skidder path to the summit of Dummer Ponds Peak. The eastern side of DPP drops fairly rapidly so we slabbed back toward our inbound track and back to the vehicles. Most of the woods were fairly open, skidder paths had a little more whippy growth but still passible and some had well-defined herd paths from the great amount of moose and deer browsing going on. |
