Comments
Comments: Crossed bridge and started uphill on plowed road for about .5 mile to logging site. Road no longer plowed after logging site. Continued on road for .7 mile then started bw. Our route took us SE, avoiding water and thick woods at bottom of bowl, approx 1.25 mile to a huge former log yard at 1650’. This is also the jct of corridors 138 and 139 not being used this year. Then followed log road E to jct with groomed, but not snomoed, corridor 5(?). Turned S and followed groomed trail until we were approx 1 mile NW of peak. Started bw here. First .5 mile through pleasant conditions. Next .5 mile to peak was a hellish eternal sea of thick whips, prickles, and nasty hobble bush. Fortunately summit bottle wrapped in orange tape. We might have never found it due to trees plastered with a thick coat of rime ice above 2000’. Followed our tracks back.
Roads followed on this route can easily be seen on satellite images.
Breaking effort - minimal. 4-6” rarely 8” powder on a supportive base
Grades - always easy
Vegetation - wide open hard woods, but often had to contend with whips, etc
