Comments
Comments: Interesting conditions out there right now. the trail isn't super packed because of all the barebooters, but there is barely enough snow to warrant snowshoes. 2-4 inches, in some spots a trace. I wore snowshoes for pretty much the entire day, though it was pretty tricky navigating around roots and rocks in some of the thin places where it gets steep on the way up to SD, so much so that when I got to the steep section on Old Path to ND, I ditched them and barefooted, though coming back down I wished for the spikes that I had left in the car. not because it was icy, but because the snow was warming up in the sun and getting slippery. Shoes went back on for the descent of Old Path, which again, pretty thin in spots. Circled back up to summit of ND on Ski Trail and then retraced back to car. At this point without more snow in the forecast I think micro spikes are the way to go.
