Road and trails in great shape. I used HH spikes between the car and the first stream crossing, and HHP crampons above the first stream crossing. The deeper snow, and the inch or two of fresh snow, at higher elevations, and the condition of the steep stretch between the junction and the peak, made HHP crampons the ideal choice (spikes would not have afforded enough traction, and climbing crampons would have been overkill). Beautiful day in the woods, but no views at the top due to being socked in with clouds. Had the trail to myself for the entire hike--nice, given the crowds on the trails nowadays. |
