| Comments: |
Snow near the start and along the brook is very soft / powdery and just a few inches deep. Toss up on snowshoes vs microspikes, but we went with snowshoes entire route as there was some post-holing evidence from prior day or two that was smoothed over. The postholes continued well up past the 3,000 ft mark and in deeper snow made snowshoeing over them difficult. After that, it was 12+" of unbroken powder to the ridge and easier to break new trail. Visibility was low and wind was high on the ridge so we considered the hike destination complete at the ridge sign and did not attempt the walk up to Lafayette. |
