 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
From Rt 3 in Pittsburg, drove 3 miles on Indian Stream Rd to limit of authorized travel. Plenty of parking spots. Indian Stream Rd plowed wide but has not been plowed in a few days resulting in over 1†snow on the surface. Also only first mile gets sanded. Road currently suitable for all vehicles. No sign of heavy log hauling. |

From vehicle, walked down road to groomed snomo corridor 142. Followed snomo trail across stream and then north 2.2 miles from vehicle to a Y-jct where groomed trail splits. We took left branch, corridor 142 aka Hall Stream Connector Rd, for approx 1 mile. Just before reaching the HOL we noticed a small log yard on the right and decided to start bw here. At the far end of the log yard we found a logging road that snaked through the dense spruce and brought us to a spot where we easily crossed a brook and into wide open hard woods. Easy uphill bw to summit. Summit area is flattish and rambling with apparently more than one contender for top spot. Register is located at N end high on a tree. Almost didn’t find it due to snow surrounding the bottle. We tied a piece of flagging tape to the tree. Returned the same way we came up.
Breaking effort - min 12†dry powder
Grades - all easy
Vegetation - sparsely treed |
