Noyes Road (which is now a local Snomo Trail), Bushwhack
Following Campsite's directions using Bear Rock Rd) we parked at the Eastern end of Noyes Road. From Jct of BRR and Noyes we were able to drive about .2 miles to a snomo parking area in front of a house. Noyes Rd continues as a Class V road to the left of the house. We snowshoed the packed snow mobile track to the HOL (about 1 mile). Entering the fairly thick woods toward the peak. The area was crossed with many old skidder roads which we took advantage of and easily found the recognized summit. We also had company by a Chocolate Lab (Maggie) from the start. Her name and number were on her collar and I called the owner after attempts of trying to get her to go home. SH followed us on the entire hike. The owner was waiting at the parking area when we returned. He owns most of the land surrounding Lovering, but not the summit and he even has a trail approaching from the Southeasterly side of the mountain. He told us that Hikers/hunters were welcome to use his property. We explained the nature of our quest for the NH500 peaks and turning, he pointed out Mudget Mtn. so that is were we headed next. |
