 | Comments: |
Lots of sun on a bluebird sky day. Brisk all day with wind howling through the treetops so we could hear the trees creaking and snapping. The trail was packed with boot traffic except where the wind blew shallow drifts across our path. We saw bare-booters but wouldn't recommend it due to a few spots where the snow was worn off on the way down the cliffs. Snowshoes are a choice but we all used microspikes without difficulty. No postholing possible since the snow isn't yet deep enough. Met 6 year old Henry who clocked 1000 miles in 2020. His goal for 2021 will be measured in elevation. Kestrel data: T=11 F, W= average 10 gusting to 25, WC= variable at -7 F. Splendid party day with friends. |
