| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I was able to park on Ravine Road at the gate. Road was packed snow and easy to drive on with my SUV (I can't speak for other vehicles). This cut off some walking time on the road, though I think from the gate to the trailhead was still nearly a mile. |

Beautiful trail up Gorge Brook, snow is packed and perfect. I wore snowshoes the whole time which probably wasn't necessary but helped with the ascent. Summit there is some exposed rock from blowing snow but all is mostly completely covered. The signs are covered with rime ice so bring a map. Carriage road was just gorgeous for a while, but as the trail went on there was increasing postholing from bare boot hiking (also, y'all, pee off trail and pick up your poo pls). Snapper had areas of very deep snow. There were some people in snow shoes that had gone before me but the trail wasn't yet packed down. Snowshoes a definite help here. Rare day of very low wind at the summit! Absolutely gorgeous views. This was my attempt 2 and was pleased to be able to summit this time for 16/48! |
