Comments
Comments: Sage and I broke trail up to the Moose. Just a few inches down low but up to 7-9 inches on upper half. A bunch of drifted bits where the snow went to our calves and knees. Not too bad, we expected to have to do more work.

The summit was the inside of a ping pong ball with little visibility and frostbite-worthy winds. Good times.

Saw three young guys coming up with snowboards while we headed down. They planned to snowboard down Moosilauke Carriage Road. They were sinking to their knees (no snowshoes) since I think they are more skiers/snowboarders than hikers. They were very nice and thanked us for breaking out the trail. Sage and I smoothed the trail back down as we continued our descent. Soon three hikers on snowshoes passed us going up, so now there have been five sets of snowshoes on that trail today.

The trail, especially the upper half, is still not consolidated - it is very soft and snowshoes are the way to go until the route has seen more traffic.

Congrats to Sage for gridding out Moosilauke!
