Comments
Comments: I started the day thinking, "Hey, it will be fun to take a less popular trail up to the ridge!" The trail appeared to be lightly packed at first, but after a mile or so, there was scant evidence of a any trail -- that's the downside of picking a less popular trail. I wasn't having much fun breaking trail after about 3 miles and the weather was making me very wet, plus the high winds had dislodged several icy loads of snow onto my head, so I decided to turn around. I comforted myself with the knowledge that I was making a nicely packed trail for future hikers -- but I was so wrong! On my way back to the parking lot, I discovered that the high winds had dislodged the plentiful snow from the tree canopy and a good portion of the trail was no longer even visible. Snowshoes all the way.
