Comments
Comments: About 3-4 inches of fluffy powder covered a packed base. We didn't see anyone using snowshoes, but I wished I'd brought mine. After a number of hikers Saturday, though, the loop is probably fine for microspikes now. We hiked up to Percival first, breaking trail and taking the cliff trail rather than the cave trail. (We later heard from other hikers that we'd made the right choice.) There were some steep, snow-covered boulders that I ended crawling over on my hands and knees because I couldn't seem to get up them any other way! My husband, though, had no problem with them. The hike from Morgan down to the parking lot was very fast -- by the time we were headed down a number of other hikers had packed it out. We had no problem avoiding the ladders down from Morgan.
