Great hike up Monadnock yesterday. Microspikes required. Ascended via White Dot and descended White Cross. Wanted to add some distance by going down Red Dot
but conditions unclear as we didn't have snowshoes and at least 8 inches of snow off trail. Got various reports of needing snowshoes, someone else said trail
had already been broken. Asked 2 more hikers who had just crested to the summit area from the entry and we inquired about conditions but they basically said nobody should be on the mountain without snowshoes, period. The attitude was over the top...oh well. It was a beautiful day for a hike. Passed 2 guys who had run up and down White Dot 5 times already. Incredible.... |
