Clockwise loop. Snowshoes very much needed due to drifting, soft snow cover and the trail being churned up throughout the day by folks with no 'shoes or those carrying them only. Don't be fooled by the conditions at the trailhead. Off-trail snow is deep as well, so you are going to sink without snowshoes.
Started out fairly quiet, but soon saw lots of folks during the descent. Nice to run into Eric out there, and Ken from Redline Guiding, who I hadn't seen in a while. The weather was forecasted to be quite cold but it was very comfortable with zero wind. |
