A variety of ski trails winding up the main (double) chairlift have been recently groomed. In addition, a route up to the communications tower has also been groomed. Dozens of skinners on the mountain, as well as a Tenney staffer poking around on a snowmobile. Ski trails were generally well packed, though there is brush and occasional rocks sticking up. Many side trails have not been groomed, but all have seen use. Perhaps a foot of snow down low (obviously less when packed) and two to three feet up high. Temperatures were approaching freezing and humidity was rising, so the powder isn't as light as it was a day ago, however it should allow the base to set up in advance of the storms.
From the communications tower, the herd path (that goes to the wind turbine road) had been postholed, so partway out I bailed and bushwhacked through the woods to the highpoint. One to two feet of powder. |
