Great day to be up here. Trails had already been thoroughly snowplowed by the Sat/Sun crowds. We wore microspikes and carried snowshoes the whole hike. It was warm: high 20's, virtually no wind, and the cloud deck was high, allowing roughly 30 miles of visibility from the top.
Had originally planned to hike Mt Jackson & Mt Webster from Crawford Notch today, but the NH Recreational weather report gave us the impression we'd be in the clouds by the time we reached the summits. So we saved 80 minutes of extra driving time and got a view from Morgan/Percival instead.
First time here - my buddy had been here multiple times in spring & warmer months. I'll definitely come back.
Nice meeting/hiking with Bethany, originally from Kentucky.
Good luck on your winter 48 and your bucket list of even higher peaks! |
