Comments
Comments: Airline in good shape, an easy snowshoe the whole length. In fact, the four of us wore snow shoes the entire hike (well, a bit of a fib, one of us preferred to slip-slide in bareboots for the first hour or so). There were some shortish stretches above treeline where crampons may have worked better, but then punch-through might have been a problem, so they never came out of our packs. Although it too was fairly well packed, due to the deep snow the upper stretch of Valley Way was a PITA, due to severe side-sloping--sure glad we did not go up it as well. Turned out to be a very nice northern presis day, even though the sky was not blue.
