Comments
Comments: Had not been on these particular trails for over a year; Bear Mountain Trail is now partly blazed with yellow plastic tape, while the Elwell Trail is now newly (and perhaps heavily) blazed. The old Alexandria-Hebron Turnpike appears to have been regraded in the past year, making it possible for small passenger cars to drive to the flat parking area just beyond the trailhead for the Bear Mountain Trail. We parked a half mile below the trailhead, at the base of the old turnpike road.
