Started just before 8 with two other cars in the lot. Trail was pretty packed, but 2 of the 3 in front were not wearing snowshoes. It makes a difference. On our descent we passed over FIFTY people coming up!! We saw about 8 people in snowshoes! The trail was getting beat up with the heavy traffic of barebooters/spikes. This is a wonderful winter hike route. It's a gradual ascent, but still a solid 9mi hike. Great views. While the lot was plowed up to the 2nd gate a truck had driven off the side and blocked everyone from leaving until a tow truck arrived. The lot was full and there was not a lot of parking available on the sides because the plowing is one car width wide. It's winter - drive carefully, wear snowshoes :)   |
