Comments
Comments: Starting the hike at 7 AM. We were the second car in the parking lot. Attempted to use snowshoes but found it very difficult since the first 1.5 miles of the trail was an ice luge from butt sledding. Opted to switch to microspikes and use those for the remainder of the trip.

Once you hit the tree line and in between the two peaks snowshoes would have been preferred. We broke out the small section between the summit of waumbek and the view past the summit. It was a beautiful day despite not getting any views.

A big reminder to people that there is a parking lot directly across the street from Starr King Road It does not add very much mileage and is worth saving the headache of trying to fit in the trailhead parking lot. If you are at the trail later than 8 AM on a weekend ..... assume the lot is full.
