The most treacherous part of this hike was the Appalachia/Ice Rink parking area first thing in the morning. |

A few blowdowns on the upper end of Airline and Valley Way. Cleared a few on Valley Way. |

Snowshoes start to finish. Could have used crampons. Little wind and warm temperatures; visibility was good but gray and overcast. From the junction of Airline and Gulfside all the way to Edmands Col it was very easy walking right across the top of the snow and ice. Side hill going up Jefferson from Edmands Col was potentially sketchy but I didn't feel the need to use either crampons or piolet. Plenty of snow on the summits.
Both Airline and Valley Way in decent shape.
Good to chat with the group of 4 getting to Jefferson this morning. Nice to be recognized on Madison and see some familiar faces. |
