I parked in the lot on route 2. I was the only one there at 7:45 am. DO NOT TRY DRIVING UP STARR KING ROAD WITHOUT AWD. I saw three FWD cars attempt it. Two turned back, and one had to be towed out. The bottom half of the road is fine, but once you get past the houses it is covered in snow and ice. |

The trail was packed down. The ridge to waumbek was less packed, but I never felt the need to put on my snowshoes. I used microspikes all day. If I stepped off trail, I sank to my knees in snow. |
