Comments
Comments: Followed Cobble Hill Rd south for .7 mile to groomed snomo trail. Then on snomo trail for .3 mile to 1702’ elevation seen on topos. Turned SE on old logging road for a short while and then bw to ridge sometimes on skidder roads or old logging roads, always in wide open hardwoods. Hit ridge at 2000’ and turned S following a logging road to recognized high point. New register and bottle. Followed our tracks back to snomo trail.
From snomo trail, we set a SW bearing for Moody. Bw through wide open hardwoods until 2000’ where we encountered easy stick woods. At approx 2200’’ things started looking menacingly sprucy so we turned NW to find friendlier conditions. Fortunately we soon came upon a wide, open ravine that brought us close to the recognized summit. New register and bottle tied to a large door handle bolted to a tree.
Breaking conditions - not fun. Unsupportive crust 25% of the time on the uphill, but unsupportive at least 50% of the time on the downhill
Grades - all easy on Cobble, both easy and moderate on Moody
