Comments: Got a 945 start and got to Mount Pemi in little over an hour. Very well packed trail, we wore snowshoes (for a reason I will get to in a bit) but spikes were probably the way to go all the way, leave the snowshoes at the car. After Mount Pemi, we bushwhacked to Mud Pond (thus the snowshoes). With the snowshoes it was pretty easy going and about ankle deep and open until right before the pond when the spruce thickens up a bit. When we got to the pond, I was pretty surprised to see a bunch of snowmobile tracks. The machine looks like it came from the south end of the pond and did a several laps. There's no snowmobile trails that go there, so I'm not sure if it was legal. Hiked our tracks back to Mount Pemi Trail and was back at the car by 1:45.
