Comments
Comments: 🐦 day for a Presidential Traverse. Trails today were optimal as well as very low winds from start to finish. I was able to use Hillsound spikes until the upper Bruin Trail. The trail at this point is choppy, postholed and unconsolidated. Snowshoes stayed on until descending Mt Washington, at which time hillsounds were the better option until just starting the ascent to Mt Eisenhower at which point snow was getting soft and was once again unconsolidated. Webster Cliff Trail and Crawford down to the Highland Center was a packed superhighway but didn't feel like changing back over from snowshoes. Full Crampons were along for the ride today but definitely glad they were on the pack if needed especially descending Mt Washington.as well as an ice ax. It was nice chatting with several hikers including one trying to beat the FKT for Hut to Hut and another hiking the Presi Traverse. Today completes my SSW48. Beautiful hike!
