I met about a dozen really nice hikers. Much thanks to the girl who gave me sunscreen! Many thanks to the first guy I encountered who encouraged me to do the traverse. In his words “it doesn’t get any better than thisâ€. I talked to a guy at the summit of Lafayette. He said, “if you can’t do the ridge in these conditions you just can’t do the ridgeâ€. He was spot on. Conditions were the best ever of any season. The trail was hard packed. The sun was out, no wind, temps in the teens. I was able to spend 30 minutes at the summits of Lafayette and Haystack. Hiking poles were the best gear of the day for me. Super day out! |
