Quite a few skiers on the trails late this afternoon/early evening earning turns. Snow was soft from the spring-like temperatures (mid-50s in Plymouth, mid-40s at the ski area), snow flotation (skis or snowshoes) was a must. Heavily traveled trails were spring snow, while the lesser used trails still had a bit of a crust (melting away in the sun). No recent traffic to the summit, so I followed my previous bushwhack route. Deep snow, even with snowshoes (more than 3 feet up high).
Still full coverage on the ski trails with much better base depths than a month ago thanks to the small incremental snowfalls, though the waterbars are getting soft. |
