 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked at the end of the public portion of West Shore Road. Room for 2 cars today. Beyond this it is marked as a Driveway. If there was not enough room here my backup plan was to park at the Boat Launch and hoof it back. |

Although it was marked as a Driveway beyond where I parked it did not indicate to stay out and it was not plowed beyond this point. I had not seen the rock indicating the beginning of the trail on the drive in so I thought I would walk up the road a short distance to check on it. About 100' in I found the rock and evidence that the trail has been used this winter. (This was well before any of the multiple driveways serviced beyond this point). The trail is marked with fading red paint down low and then with paint and survey tape later. I followed the trail to the recognized HOL marked with a substantial cairn. There were several view points surrounding the HOL which provided interesting views to the east and west. Someone attached an American Flag on the eastern viewpoint.
Snow was supportive the entire way but on the steeper sections there were ice flows from the recent melting and foot placement needed great care. The ropes mentioned in previous posts were still there but it was not necessary to use them today. I followed my track back. |
